December 2, 2011    For us we are feeling the effects of a very slow economy. Fishing reports were better than in years past. Locals and regulars were pleased with the overall fall fishing season. Kure Pier is closed. Mike and crew have the crane out making necessary repairs. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!!!!!!!!!

Our apartments are open by reservation only till spring.
Our Shop is closed.

Tuesday, November 15, 2011     Kure Pier is the place to be. Spots, Black Drum, Virginia Mullets and Whale watching are doing okay. Yep! Whale watching. Last Saturday I was standing in our shop and noticed a spout of water coming up from the sea. Sure enough it was a dark black whale. Guest fishermen and Kure Pier fishermen have seen them over the past several days. Stay tuned!    Gas prices, $3.32 and up. Tide table

Friday, November 11, 2011    For us, we are not seeing many fishermen as in the past years. Kure Pier has activity, Spots, Virginia Mullets and Black Drum, the same as last week. One of our locals reported he had to wrestle in a 56 inch - estimated Sixty pounds - Red Drum. His line broke in the surf and he did not want to loose the fish. Once appended and a short photo shoot, the monster was released. Stay tuned!     Gas prices, $3.38and up. Tide table

Friday, November 4, 2011    Lots of rain fall over the past 12 hours. I'm guessing 3 plus inches. Very few fishermen down this week. Of those, several came back for some more of our Salt Mullet. Some as far as Wrightsville Beach. "Red Drum love these" reported several fishermen. Kure Pier fishermen reported Spots, Virginia Mullets and Black Drum. Stay tuned!     Gas prices, $3.32 and up. Friday, October 28, 2011   No reports to boast about at this time.     Until today the weather has been beautiful. Today gray clouds and persistent northeast winds.     I've been to Fort Caswell for a Bible study retreat this week. Dr. Walter Harrelson was one of the guests lectures. Very kind, wise and fascinating scholar.     While traveling by the Southport Fort Fisher Ferry, I noticed the Cape Fear had pre-rapid river currents. So strong the ferry captain had us traveling next to the west side of the river's channel. This was closest I've ever been to that part of the river. Saturday, October 22, 2011   Friday, a gentleman returned to report catching a 52 inch Red Drum. After a brief photo shot, the beautiful animal was released. He was pleased with the "Salt Mullet" he purchased from us. Large Virginia Mullets have be caught off and on this week. Flounder fishermen did fair this past week in the Fort Fisher State Park. On the other hand, we had sever guest upset with the wind and rains as their catches were not to good. :(     Stay tuned!     Gas prices, $3.39 and up. Tide table    

Tuesday, October 18, 2011   Today we took the day off  in honor of one of my "Great" Aunts. She went home this past Saturday. She was 97 years young. Stay tuned!     Gas prices, $3.39 and up. Tide table    

Sunday, October 16, 2011    Several of our guest families took advantage of the wonderful fall weather. Virginia Mullets and Black Drum "pan sized" were caught. Winds have varied 180 degrees northeast to southwest, 5 to 15 miles per hour. Local fisherman caught "some of the biggest" he has every caught along the "Rocks" at Fort Fisher. Fishing tournament was held this past weekend at Carolina Beach. Will' try to get a report later. Stay tuned!     Gas prices, $3.39 and up. Tide table  

Wednesday, October 12, 2011    Well folks the big winds appear to have gone. Over the past 5 days a very strong northeaster has blown constantly. Mixed rains to boot!  Kure Beach Fire Department and Progress Energy have been busy dealing with transformer pole ark-fires. Fishing reports are Spots, Spots and more Spots! Friday, October 7, 2011    We are getting multi reports of 10 to 14 inch Sheep Heads fish this morning. Winds are blowing out the northeast at 11 pm. Air temperature is about 78 degrees.  Stay tuned! Gas prices, $3.39 and up. Tide table

Wednesday, October 5, 2011    Our guest are caught several Pompanos this morning. Spots and Virginia Mullets were too small. Our Popeye mullet fisherman brought us large row mullets this morning. Sunday, October 2, 2011    We had several fishermen fish the head boats at Carolina Beach over the weekend. Back Sea Bass, Red Snappers and Hog Nose Snappers made up the contents of several strings of fish. From the shores of KB, Spots were not as plentiful as two weeks ago. Temperatures did dropped along with a wind switch coming out the North yesterday making October 1 the first day of fall when overhauls and windbreakers came out. Oh! I forgot to mention, our world renowned  "Hand Carved" Local Salted Mullet is back!!  Stay tuned! Gas prices, $3.39 and up. Tide table
