Saturday, October 31, 2009    Virginia Mullets and Black Drum were last nights hot topics. Several of our guest "mopped-up" so to speak. "From about 11:00 pm to 4:00 am this morning we caught over fifty nice sized fish. We could not sleep once the fish started biting" reported one fellow. Weather reports forecast more warm weather and slight chance of rain. Yesterday a few drops of rain did fall but not enough to cover the ground. Thursday, October 29, 2009    Warmer weather continues. Winds are coming out of the north around 8 knots. Saturday, October 24, 2009    Surf fishermen were upset today by a southwest wind blowing most of the day. Light rain showers fell around noon and lasted about an hour. Friday, October 23, 2009    5:00pm    22 inch Pompano was caught this afternoon at the Fort Fisher State Park. "Shrimp works well", reported the fisherman. Warm dry weather continues.        7:30am Very warm morning as the sun gives many on the surf a glowing panoramic performance.     Now back down to earth. Bluefish 14 to 20 inches in length continue to be caught in front of the Blue Marlin Apartments. This unfortunately has a slowing down effect on the number of Spots caught. Fishermen are reporting the north end of the Island is producing the big 35 to 40 inch Red Fish. This size fish must be released back alive. Winds at 7:30am are 0 knots. Thursday, October 22, 2009    Warmer weather has returned. Yesterday and the day before were much cooler. Kure Pier and Surf had fishermen catching Spots, Flounder and one 27 inch monster Bluefish. Gas price are up to $2.59 cents or more at several gas stations. Stay tuned.  Tide table

Sunday, October 18, 2009    Many folks packed up this morning and headed back home. Places like Rowan, Lee, Cabarrus, Iredell, Stanley, Randolph, Alamance, Forsyth, Wake and many other counties. These families caught fish for their winter freezer. Our commercial fisherman got us a nice catch of Popeye Mullets last night. Saturday, October 17, 2009    8:30 pm    A very tired crew of fishermen came in telling us they and others did not do too well today. "At dawn Kure Pier had a good run, but after the sun came up it slowed down to a crawl." Others fishing on the Pier maxed out on Bluefish.  Go figure?     6:45 pm Through the screened-in backdoor. "Lady it smell good in your kitchen. What ha cooking? A mess of Spots. Well how'd you like to add some fresh-dressed Pompanos? That sound great! Thank you sir! An hour later. I have eaten too many fish. Its time for bed. Good night"!          6:45 am "Snow flurries forecasted in the mountains of North Carolina", reported by one new arrival. This morning several fishermen are restocking their bait supplies. "Sheep Heads and Black Drums are feeding on Shrimp. Thursday, October 15, 2009 2:30pm Update!     "We had to throw two Red Drum back because of the size restrictions, 29 and 30 inches is too long to keep according to the NC Fisheries! We also caught 3 big Trout and 2 Flounder off your Salt Mullets"!     Another lady fisherman reported she's catching Spots and Croakers two at a time off the Kure Beach Fishing Pier. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, October 15, 2009    Tuesday was a great day for fishing, it was a repeat of Monday, Wednesday was a different story, rains were not so kind as they had been in the past or maybe it was, "Being wet, we are not use to the cooler temperatures" reported two fishermen. Sunday, October 11, 2009    "Spot City" as it turned out today. Ice is in big demand as a couple of hundred folks pack up their catch of Spots, Trout, Flounder, Virginia Mullets and a few Pompanos. Saturday, October 10, 2009    Kure Beach Fireman catches 5 Trout and 1 Flounder off surf. Our "Salt Mullet" worked great! Southwest wind blew until a strong storm front came thru around 6 o'clock or so this afternoon. Thursday, October 8, 2009    Noon Update: Lincolnton, NC fisherman, wife and sister have pleasing fishing adventures. 150 Spots and 30 Flounder, 15 were keepers. Kure Pier is the place to be!    9:00 am    "Arms are sore" smiles the fisherman. His family caught several Flounder, Bluefish, Spots and Virginia Mullets with our "Salt Mullet". I ask what he caught the Spots on. He reported cut Salt Mullet was all they used. They were fishing at the old Dow intake, 400 block  Fort Fisher Boulevard  North.   This morning fishermen are reporting Kure Pier is packed. Tuesday, October 6, 2009    At 2:30 pm the Kure Beach Fishing Pier is PACKED with fishermen. Words is out the Spots have been running strong off and on all day! Fishermen reported large Flounder and Bluefish are coming off the south end and Fort Fisher State Park.     Rain showers are still around. Saturday, October 3, 2009    6:00 am Chance of scattered showers, 30%. more news later............... 9:30 pm:  For us, today started out very slow as far a trade goes. Then somewhere around 2:30pm everybody started showing up right on up to 9:00pm.  We have not gotten any reports back from fishermen.  I can only guess this* but this past Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the weather forecaster were forecasting Heavy Rain showers with Lighting on Saturday. No rains today and there is a big full moon tonight!  Being that it October and a full moon, the rock wall south of the Fort Fisher Ferry was completely covered at sunrise.   Stay tuned! Friday, October 2, 2009    "High Tide is the time to fish", reports one lifelong fisherman. North end has been doing good for us.  Weather folks were calling for rains today but no rain fell here..
