One local resident reports that his garden corn is starting to wilt.  Virginia Mullets, small Spots and a few Croaker reports are trickling in.     Triathlon was held this morning in Kure Beach. All the "young bucks and does", with their wash board bellies were running, swimming and cycling along some of streets in Kure Beach, The Atlantic Ocean and Dow Road. Kinda made me think of the 1981 academy award wining move, "Chariots of Fire". One customer complained as her and her children were turned back from the beach by Triathlon officials, therefore missing that last swim before heading back home. Stay tuned!    Gasoline news:  $2.69 - 2.85 for regular. Tomorrow's  tides:    HI tides 8:38 AM and  PM 9:01 LOW tides 2:41 AM and 2:36 PM

Wednesday, June 21, 2006 5:40 pm     Monday was a slow day for many fishermen. Only one baby Tarpon, or something that looked like a tarpon, showed up.  Tuesday, humidity was very high, no fishing reports. Fisherman reported, no sand flees on the north end of the island, plenty on the south end and along Kure Beach.  Today we are getting reports that Black Drum have returned. New Mud Minnows, Heads-Off Shrimp  and Fishing Supplies were also delivered today. We have gotten hit with a big price increase on our fresh shrimp, $7.89 for our "Heads-off Bait Shrimp". SRP is $9.49 for this restaurant grade brand of fine eating shrimp. Health department want allow us to sell these shrimp for human consumption. For some strange reason, they do not like the idea of earth worms crawling around in the same refrigeration box with the shrimp.  Stay tuned!    Gasoline news:  $2.69 - 2.85 for regular. Tomorrow's  tides:    HI tides 5:12 AM and  PM 11:23  LOW tides: 5:48 AM and --:-- PM

Sunday, June 18, 2006 3:30 pm   Happy Fathers day!     We had some computer software issues this week. We are now back. Beach was crowded this past weekend. In fact, too crowded.  Many surf fishermen were upset with all the swimmers in the water. Fort Fisher state park was packed with sunbathers and water dwellers. Rockwall south of the ferry landing was not a problem.    Flounder, Virginia Mullets, Black Drum and Croakers are still showing up now and then. One of our regular fisherman is back with his family. He's hoping to repeat last years performance with a load of Pompanos. If anybody can catch lots of fish, its good ole George!     Alberto left us with a muddy ocean on Thursday, but by Saturday, our waters had cleared back to that beau -t- full sea-green-blue.     Customers from Raleigh are telling us Alberto flood stories.     Breaking new as we type!!     3:43 pm Fayetteville, NC fishermen breaks records on a Carolina Beach charter fishing boat. 9 Kings, 3 Dolphin Fish, and a 42 pound Cobia. Wednesday, June 14, 2006 9:00 am    This morning around 4:30am, I woke up to the sounds of strong winds. A little later on, the wind sounds were gone. I suspect we had around 3 & 1/2 inches of rain in the past 24 hours. Looking at the direction of the clouds turning in the sky and the weather radar, Alberto's low cell is now crossing over the North Carolina, South Carolina line, just west of Interstate 95. Skies here are starting to clear and we are forecasted to have sunny weather by noon today. Stay tuned! Gasoline news:  $2.76 - 2.87 for regular.

Tuesday, June 13, 2006 11:10 pm     Gentle rains shower is falling at the moment. Couple catch an 18 inch Flounder on The Rock Wall south of Fort Fisher. Alberto appears to be behaving as predicted. Boats are not going out until this low cell passes. Stay tuned and good night!

Monday, June 12, 2006     9:00 pm     Heavy fish stinger filled with fish were seen yesterday evening on board the Winter Queen Party Boat, Carolina Beach. Snappers, Black Sea Bass and Grouper were some of the fish I saw. Many were 15 to 25 inches long!     Local fisherman reports his surf fishing adventures are poor. He claims it all in the wind. "This dad-burn south-west wind has never done my fishing any good." His wife was nice and said, "I don't mind eating out tonight! Come and join us!" Well tonight we are having our bait mixed with grits. The ingredients, shrimp, grits and pimento cheese. It great with asparagus and a light semi dry Rosa' wine! Many fishermen are going after Flounder with some "frisky" Mud Minnows. By "frisky", one fisherman was describing the slyness and quickness of the minnows as they jump out of his minnow net. Stay tuned! Gasoline news:  $2.79 - 2.89 for regular. Tomorrow's  tides:    HI tides 7:35 AM and  PM 8:12  LOW tides: 1:59 AM and 1:49 PM

Memorial Day 2006     5:00 pm     Well we have mixed reports to give on this special day of the year. Many fishermen and their wives are not too please with their catches. "Too many swimmers in water!" reports one up-state lady fisherman. Here and there we heard stories like "Something knocked my tackle hard, but it got a way." Others gave up fishing and enjoyed the sun, sand and surf. One fisherman today reported Jelly Fish and the water was too clear to hide his tackle. Making a guess, l suspect there were more than 4,500 people in our little town Saturday and Sunday. At times, vehicle traffic was backed up 5 and 6 blocks from the stop light.  Stay tuned! Sand flees hulls are all up and down the beach in front of the Blue Marlin Apartments.      Friday night started out with a bang! A literal Bang! Strong winds, rains coming down at a 40 degree angle and lots of lighting! Tuesday, May 23, 2006 Sorry for the break in our fishing reports!. Had too many chorus to take the best of me. Fishing reports are slow to odd. A couple from upstate report slow goings on catching fish. Small Virginia mullets are the only fish around. One fellow reports that a supper sized pompano was caught and released without no one taking a picture. Since no picture I am not going to report the weight of the pompano. Now! Unless someone caught a 5 and a half pound African Pompano then I will report that! Being said, I am just wondering if Pompanos, the ones common to Kure Beach, and the African Pompano are the same fish? In other  words, are baby African Pompanos called "Kure Beach" Pompanos? They kind-a favor.  More on this latter. Stay tuned! Gasoline news:  $2.72 - 2.85 for regular. Tomorrow's  tides:    HI tides 5:34 AM and  PM 6:06  LOW tides: 11:47 AM and --:-- PM

Friday, April 28, 2006     Warm bright sunshine has returned to Kure Beach. Today, locals are coming in looking for fresh whole mullets. At this time, we do not have a supplier who can produce FRESH Whole Mullets. Our Mullet are dressed, brined and put up fresh and placed in a freezer.
