Thursday, May 31, 2007     Sorry for the delays.     We are doing may repairs this week. Fishermen are telling me the waters off the Kure Beach Fishing Pier are a little muddy. Small fish like Croakers and Virginia Mullets are being caught. Sand flees were very productive in Snows Cut this past weekend.  Weather this past week has been fantastic. Thursday, May 24, 2007     Northeast wind has blown over the past two days. Big Bluefish, 18 to 24 inches are being caught in the surf on Cut Mullet.  We did have one Fisherman catch an 8 lb Flounder off a Mud Minnow inside the Fort Fisher State Park. The fines for not having the new Coastal Recreational Fishing Licenses "...is a $185 fine and a misdemeanor charge for those caught fishing without one." Click here for that news article and video. Hot weather has returned.  Fisherman reports Kure Pier has begun the King Mackerel fishing season.  This is where fishermen use an anchor line and a bait line baited with a Spot, Virginia Mullet or other fish to lure in big Kings.  Note, fisherman do catch King and Spanish Mackerel while plugging assorted fishing lures without an anchor line.   Stay tuned! Saturday, May 5, 2007    Bluefish, two foot in length, was caught today in front of our Blue Marlin Apartments. Virginia Mullets and Flounder reports are still coming in. Tuesday, May 1, 2007     Dangerous dry weather continues. This just in! Fisherman reports Wildlife officials issued a $60.00 citation. Fisherman with two rods invited his wife to join him while he fishes. She was not fishing yet too close in proximity not to have a CRF License.
