Well folks, today is Saturday, November 30, 2019 Hardly anyone in our shop today, nor passing by our store. We have one quest checking out of apartments tomorrow so, Karen and I decided to close up for the season. Penning any activities of customers, we will reopen full time sometimes next spring. Wednesday, November 27, 2019 Today, many families were enjoying the beach.. Half the family members were fishing, the other half were enjoying football, pet dogs playing catch as one Golden Retriever was fetching a stick out of the gentle wavy surf. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 Local lady catches Whopper Speckled Trout. 7 pounds plus. Mirror Lure, don't know the style. Perhaps TT-11 and MM-52 are popular, along with "Candy Apple". Monday, November 25, 2019 No fishing reports. Today, weather was very nice. We sold out of Mud Minnows. At the moment, we are not reordering for the year. Wildlife officials are sending in request for need fishing projects. Oh, someone posted on Facebook, a saltwater catfish. Saturday, November 23, 2019 Many folks in town today. Thomasville, Hillsboro, Mt. Airy, Gold Hill just to name a few. Virginia Mullets are still the top catch. Thursday, November 21, 2019 After Karen and I closed up shop, we headed out to the surf. North of Kure Pier, surf continues to build. I assume the rest of the beach is doing likewise. Wednesday, November 20, 2019 Returning customers reporting, Spots, Croakers and Virginia Mullets. Bloodworms,Cut Mullets, Fishbites Sand Flees and Shrimp are in demand. Wednesday, November 13, 2019 No Fishing Reports nor customers. :( Since it was a very slow day in our shop, we started doing inventory. Monday, November 11, 2019 Very pretty day for fishing. Several fishermen in today. We sold out of our Jumbo Bloodworms. Many 4 wheel drive fishermen returned with their weekend fishing reports. All caught Virginia Mullets on our Shrimp and a new popular item, "Fishbites EZ-Flees", artificial Sand Flees. Stay Tuned! Sunday, November 10, 2019 Today was warmer than yesterday. This afternoon, fishermen came back for more bait. They reported a 36 inch Red Drum was hauled onto Kure Pier. Hook and tackle removed, fish lowered back to the waters. South of Fort Fisher State Park, 18 inch Virginia Mullets seem to be everywhere. Stay Tuned! Saturday, November 9, 2019 This morning, Karen and I went out our front door. First thing that captured our attention was of Ice standing in a puddle of water. Not many fishermen fishing today. Friday, November 8, 2019 Around 4 PM today, temperatures dropped. To me, it felt like the mid 40's. This was the first time this year I grabbed my hooded sweatshirt. Tuesday, November 5, 2019 GOD SAVE US!! its Election Day!! Well folks, several reports have come in this morning. Spots, Bluefish, LARGE VIRGINIA MULLETS and Black Drums. One fisherman packed a 48 quart cooler up with fish. He was up past 10pm cleaning his catch. Others are reporting similar stories. Thursday, October 31, 2019 Today, fishing reports returned. Kure Pier fishermen are asking for Bloodworms and Shrimp. Surf fishermen have caught large Virginia Mullets. Wednesday, October 23, 2019. Local Fishermen texted us their report. Bluefish are being caught quite frequently. Next, last night, our Popeye Mullets arrived on time. This morning, Karen and I were up after sunrise scaling, dressing mullets, filleting then salting down the fillets. Fishermen have caught many Flounders, 18 - 22 inches long. Monday, October 21, 2019 Kure Beach Fishing Pier is the place to be. Many large Pompanos, Large Bluefish, Large Virginia Mullets along with a few keeper Red Drum. After last winter's dredging, local surf fishermen are upset with the lack of holds. "We having to go the state park to find anything decent" reported one group of fishermen. Stay Tuned! Wednesday, October 16, 2019 Just north of Kure Pier, two brothers reported a slow day catching fish. One large Black Drum, small Pompanos and small Virginia Mullets. Oh! Monday, October 14, 2019 Today, Karen and I were blessed with several groups of new fishermen. Each group asked about reports. We told them, Spot catches slowed down Thursday Night. Sunday, October 13, 2019 For the past three days, Spots have taken a break. Thursday night, Kure Pier was very packed with die-hard fishermen. Many sleeping bags were all up and down the pier. Surf fishermen are hoping things improve with the surf. "The beach is too smooth" reported one fisherman. Weather has been very nice, other than the biting flies. Bug spray is a must! Thursday, October 10, 2019 Many surf fisherman have arrived today. Two Hot Spot for catching fish. Kure Beach Fishing Pier, past the breakers and into the wavy calm seas. Next Fort Fisher Reserve Base Cape Fear River Pier. Drum, Spots, Virginia Mullets and big skates. Yesterday, I walked out onto the surf. No one fishing the surf. Sad, I noticed Wheat Straw was at the high water mark, about 40 feet from the dune line. Not sure were this came from, but it stretched as far as I could see. Wednesday, October 9, 2019 Many fishermen are reporting Spots. Less than 3 hours, some fishermen have caught 40 or more. Seawater temperatures are reported at a warm 79 degrees. Thursday, October 3, 2019 Devastating News:Kure Beach, NC: Thursday, October 3, 2019 Devastating News: Today, local TV news reports, yesterday there were two separate drowning in the surf here in Kure Beach. Not sure of all the details. One report, one person was a swimmer, the other person was fishing. Were are sad for all the families, love ones and friends.

Wednesday, October 2, 2019 Many fishing reports to tell. Yesterday, kayaker got pulled by a big Bull Drum. Tackle broke after a 15 minute attempt to release the hook. October Lunar Tides are in. At this time, no Caroline Beach street flooding reported . During high tides, Kure Beach fishermen don't have much beach to place their chairs and fish carts. Monday, September 30, 2019 First, we are hoping "the best" for the families and home owners of yesterdays' large fire on Topsail Island, NC. At least 7 homes destroyed. Kure Beach, NC. Today, new fishermen have been coming in our shop. Current weather conditions are favorable. Winds, 12 knots or so, coming out of the East-Northeast. Stay Tuned! Sunday, September 29, 2019 Red Drum are showing up everywhere. One Big Bull Drum (> 48 inches) was caught off Masonboro Island. Spot heads, Croaker heads or Virginia Mullet heads on a 4/0 to 6/0 hook, works wonders. (60 lbs steal leader needed.) This past week, our Salted Cut Mullets yielded Black and Red Drums. Saturday, September 28, 2019 Over the past two days, fishing reports slowed down.. Thursday, we got in a small load of local mullets. Fishermen enjoy our fresh cut salted mullets. Winds were blowing mostly from the southeast. As you make know, North Carolina Fisheries have put a halt on keeping any Flounder caught by recreational fishermen. Stay Tuned! Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Yesterday I was attending an update class for property management. This morning Spots reports are active. I'm not seeing the fall bronze colored Spots as expecting. Monday, September 23, 2019. Happy Birthday to someone special! Well folks I'm back. You might say by several request. We have a Lodging Facebook page, there I make a few comments regarding fishing. Last year "Google", the web's largest search engine has us listed a flower shop. For me, I discovered there is an internet battle between competing search engine providers. Hope things return to normal. Now for our first fishing report in quite a while.

Yesterday, Karen and I were walking along the Kure Beach's Atlantic Avenue Boardwalk. All of a sudden, a Tarpon, 5 or more feet in length, jump out of the ocean. The large animal was about 200 yards off shore. I could tell it was a Tarpon because of its large mouth and floppy gills. Red Drum and Virginia Mullets are here. Spots too. Stay Tuned!
